If like me you are sick of GDPR already (and it only came into force today), like all other websites you've ever opted in for, we must notify you of the changes made to our terms due to the new General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") which has already taken effect.
So, here goes...
We want to let you know how we collect, store and handle your personal data. You don't need to take any action unless you think we haven't got your correct details.
Here's a brief overview -
Why we collect your data
If you have given us your details through an application for a scouting role we will store your data on Compass (or in some Districts and Groups) OSM to keep in touch about scouting events, relevant training courses or activities relevant to your role and for membership only ever for a Scouting purpose.
We may also store your data where you have provided information to attend an event, camp or activity. This data will be deleted once the activity has concluded unless it is required because of an issue that has arisen during the activity or you agree for us to keep it whilst you (or your young person) are still involved in scouting.
How we collect your data
We collect your data through your application forms, event notification, permission to camp forms and medical information forms .
When we would share your data
We will not share your data without your consent. If an occasion occurred where we are to work with a partner on a specific campaign or promotion related to a scouting purpose that would require sharing your data (such as your email address), you would always be made aware of this prior to opting in to the promotion and clearly asked for permission in each case.
More info regarding your data Of course, if you have any questions, please feel free to fill in the contact page and ask away.
Thanks for being part of the East Sussex Scouts community, and here’s to many more amazing adventures to come :-)
